Biography

Sergio Alvarez Villa, is a radio and advertising announcer, podcaster, sound technician and DJ. Born on September 16, 1976 in Xàtiva (Valencia). At the age of seven he began to make his first musical recordings with a cassette recorder. In 1988, by submitting a ring pull in a promotion by a famous brand of cola, he got his first Walkman. This portable stereo audio player would become his inseparable companion day and night. At that time he would realize that in the future he wanted to work as a radio announcer. Since childhood he has been linked to music and at the end of the 80s he completed his studies in music theory at the Maestro Vert Conservatory in Carcaixent (Valencia).

Since 1990 he has prepared and retains various samples of recordings of the advertising that was broadcast on the radio in Spain in the past and which is now history. Over these years, always with his own media, he prepared his first recordings presenting, like a radio announcer, some of the songs he heard every day on the radio. He entered several DJ competitions on various radio stations.

In the late 90s he began working as a DJ in major discos in the region of Valencia, such as Luna, Twist or Alkimia.

In 1997, aged 20, he gained the qualification of Senior Image and Sound Technician at the Juan Comenius Vocational Training Centre in Valencia. His first job was as a sound technician and announcer on Radio Turia, the local radio station in La Eliana (Valencia).

Since then he continued to develop his radio career, working as a sound technician for Top Radio Valencia in 1997. A year later, in 1998 he collaborated in speech and writing tasks at Canals Radio, the local radio station in Canals (Valencia). That same year also worked on Radio Xàtiva Cadena SER as a sound technician. He has not only worked on the radio, but also in the area of recording studios where he worked as a sound technician in dubbing and sound systems in the Tabalet Studies in Alboraya (Valencia). In 1998 he carried out the first course of Senior Technician in Industrial Electronics Components at the Juan Comenius Vocational Training Centre in Valencia.

In 2000 he fulfilled one of his professional dreams, being hired to join the team of DJs and announcers of Los 40 Principales and M80 Radio at Radio Ontinyent. He has occasionally presented the local weekend morning programming on Radio Ontinyent Cadena SER.

During these early years of the 2000s he continued training as a professional within his specialty and in other different fields. In 2002 he took the sound technician course at the CEV School of Communication, Image and Sound in Madrid. A year later, in 2003 he took one of the courses at the RTVE Institute of Announcement - Presentation of television programmes.

In 2004 he moved to Madrid when he was selected to join the staff of announcers at Kiss Fm, presenting the weekend early morning broadcasts nationwide. He continues to progress in his career and from 2006 to the end of 2008 he was in charge of the early morning weekday broadcasts of Kiss Fm.

Since his arrival in the capital of Spain, he has taken various dubbing courses with several prestigious professionals; in 2006 at the PC Tauros School in Madrid and in 2013 at the Julio Morales Academy of Dubbing and Acting in Madrid. He continues to train in this professional field until today.

From 2010 he decided to complement his training as an announcer by studying other languages and getting intermediate level official qualifications in German, Italian and English.

Currently, since 2012 from his own recording studio he has been broadcasting the weekly music program "Password", a space for several local radio stations in the province of Valencia where he selects the best songs in the main European languages from the charts across Europe.
